Tuesday's phone conversation between the foreign ministers of Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) covered political and economic ties.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Mevlut Cavusoglu and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also spoke about the 50th anniversary of the start of diplomatic ties.
According to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the limitations on speaking to the media, Cavusoglu also thanked Al Nahyan for the Emirati support and unity in the wake of the earthquakes on February 6.
Official estimates place the death toll from the strong 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude twin quakes at over 50,000.
According to the UN, 6,000 people died in Syria as a result of the powerful aftershocks.
