Except for China's Shanghai stock exchange, all major Asian stock markets concluded the week with gains.
The Asia Dow, which covers the region's blue-chip businesses, rose 52.75 points, or 1.44 percent, to 3,727.76 points.
The Nikkei 225 index of Japanese stocks rose 455.12 points, or 1.68 percent, to 27,533.
The Hang Seng, the Hong Kong stock exchange's benchmark for blue-chip stocks, rose 252.18 points, or 1.07 percent, to 23,802.
The benchmark Sensex in India gained 695.76 points, or 1.18 percent, to settle at 59,558 points, while the Singapore index gained 3.26 points, or 0.10 percent, to close at 3,249.
In the meantime, the Shanghai stock exchange fell 32.81 points, or 0.97 percent, to 3,361 points.
