London, Thursday, 03 March 2022
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) said on Thursday that trade in 27 businesses with strong ties to Russia has been banned.
Sberbank, Russia's largest private lender, is among the corporations, as are Rosneft and Gazprom, the country's leading oil and natural gas producers.
Severstal, a Russian steel and mining company, and Polyus, a gold mining company, are also on the list, both of which are among the largest in their respective industries.
The decision was made "in light of market conditions and in order to maintain orderly markets," according to a statement from the London Stock Exchange.
