AWARD WINNING START UP REMATCH RAISES £2 MILLION TO LAUNCH ‘RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE REMATCH’, A BRAND NEW AND ONE OF A KIND IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE THAT TIME TRAVELS WITH MUHAMMAD ALI

10th August 2022: Combining theatre, sport and technology, award winning startup Rematch, the ultimate sporting time machine, today announced its second immersive experience ‘Rumble in the Jungle Rematch’ in partnership with Muhammad Ali Enterprises, slated to launch in early 2023. A brand new experience that goes beyond sport, ‘Rumble in the Jungle Rematch’ aims to bring to life the music, culture, fashion and tastes that surrounded and will take audiences back in time to the legendary 1974 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Additionally, the event will also reimagine the Zaire 74 music festival that accompanied the fight, featuring James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers and a slew of Africa’s best musicians.


Rematch is the first immersive experience to utilise the power of sport, taking iconic historical moments and bringing them to life in a modern context. More than a boxing match, the story of Rumble in the Jungle has transcended beyond sports history. Known as ‘The Great Sporting Event of the 20th Century’, it was watched by over one billion people, which accounted for a quarter of the world’s population at the time. Through immersive theatre, audio-visual media and music, Rumble in the Jungle Rematch will transport the audience back to 1974 Zaire, evoking the authentic sights and sounds of the capital Kinshasa at the time.


Following a successful ‘Wimbledon Rematch 1980’ in 2019, which won two accolades at the Campaign Experience Awards, for Creative Event of the Year and Game Changer Award, Rumble in the Jungle Rematch will be the second Rematch creation following its latest round of funding at nearly £2 million which will enable the company to launch the show and scale internationally.


International private investors include Trevor Beattie – Advertising legend, and founder of Trevor Beattie films, John Gleasure – Executive Vice Chairman of Global Entertainment Platform DAZN and owner of Sporting News, Juliet Slot – Arsenal’s Commercial Director, Ricardo Fort – Sport by Fort Founder and formerly VP, Global Sports and Entertainment Partnerships at The Coca-Cola Company, Oli Slipper – Sports media entrepreneur and Executive Chairman of Pitch International and Immersive Everywhere – creators of live immersive experiences including The Great Gatsby, Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders.
