On Tuesday, three Turkish nationals were detained on suspicion of harbouring unauthorised immigrants who were sailing toward Italy.

On October 2, the Coast Guard found the sailboat, which was in trouble west of the island of Kefalonia. Six women and six children were among the 56 migrants that were saved and transported to the port of Igoumenitsa.

Authorities found that three men were in charge of moving the migrants from the Turkish coastlines to the Italian shoreline during the preliminary inquiry.
