US Stocks Ended Higher Tuesday After President’s Biden Remarks, European Stocks Rebound

London, Tuesday, 21 December 2021

US stocks came back from the reds of the past three days as President Biden stated he is considering lifting the travel restrictions connected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19, from a number of countries such as South Africa.

Another factor which added to investors’ positivity is, the FDA’s intention to authorise an at-home treatment with Pfizer and Merck and pills. Stocks of both pharmaceutical firms declined, as when Covid-19 fears decrease, their shares are more likely to fall, since they both produce Covid-19 treatments.

Pfizer was trading at $58.95, a decline of -2.07 or -3.39%, as recorded on the last trade time, 18:14:56 EST on Tuesday, while Merck was trading at $75.54, a decline of -0.87 or -1.14% as recorded on the last trade time, 18:16:30 EST on Tuesday.

European stocks rebounded as lockdown worries and concerns about vaccines’ effectiveness against omicron variant, dimed.

In the, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson decided not to toughen the rules further over the festive season.
