Colombia's Fourth-Quarter GDP Growth Exceeds Expectations.


London, Tuesday, 15 February 2022 -



Colombia's economic output increased 10.8% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2021, up from an upwardly revised 13.5 percent in the previous quarter and exceeding market estimates of 8.7%.


Entertainment, arts & recreational activities (31.6 percent, up from 31.7 percent in Q3); wholesale & retail trade (21.2 percent, up from 34.6 percent); information & communication (18.1 percent, up from 13.1 percent); manufacturing activities (11.7 percent, up from 18.6 percent); and support & administrative services and technical, scientific & professional activities (11.7 percent, up from 18.6 percent) (10.1 percent vs 12.4 percent).


The economy grew 4.3 percent on a seasonal and calendar adjusted quarterly basis, down from 6.1 percent the previous quarter.


In total, GDP increased by 10.3% in 2021, rebounding well after a 7.3 percent drop the previous year.
