Spain’s Unemployment Rate Declines to 13.33%, Down From 14.57%.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, Spain's unemployment rate fell to 13.33 percent, down from 14.57 percent the previous three months and below market predictions of 14.2 percent.


It was the lowest rate since the third quarter of 2008, as labour demand grew in tandem with the economy's robust recovery.


Unemployment fell by 312.9 thousand to 3.104 million from the previous quarter, while employment climbed by 153.9 thousand to 20.185 million. Services (down 79,000 jobs), agriculture (down 33,300 jobs), and construction (down 33,300 jobs) all had decreases in unemployment (down 25,500).


The labour force participation rate decreased to 58.65% from 59.14 percent the previous quarter.
